Powerful,
rustic, gutsy (and cheaper than it ought to be), this Shiraz is the kind of
satisfying quaffer that Australia built its wine reputation on more than 100
years ago. The smoke/spicy deep eucalyptus flavors are just waiting for ribs
slathered with sticky barbeque sauce, sausages on the grill, or fajitas with a
fiery red sauce.
This is an
exquisite wine crafted using Taltarni’s finest winemaking methods. Small wine
parcels are cool fermented to retain fresh fruit characters, with the wine
undergoing extended skin contact to enhance the complexity of the wine and
soften tannins. 10% of the wine undergoes end of ferment in barrel integrating
subtle oak, cedar, and spice characteristics. The wine then undergoes about 18
months maturation in 60% new oak, mainly French barrels with about 10% American
oak.
Winemaker’s
Notes
A vibrant
magenta red color showing youthfulness whilst sophisticated on the nose with
concentrated aromas of blueberries and mocha. Very appealing to drink now but
built to cellar with confidence for at least ten years.
