NV Valdivieso Caballo Loco
Number Nine

This wine is particularly interesting because of the exclusion of a vintage and the mystery surrounding the percentages of grape varietals.  What we do know is that the composition is based on the classic Bordeaux varietals.  In addition, Caballo Loco is widely accepted as being one of the best wines produced in Chile. Dark red color. An intense aromatic profile dominated by ripe berry fruits, and underlayed with sweet spices. Full bodied and a structure with clear cellaring potential. A wine to enjoy the concentrated power now or wait 5 to 7 years to develop the elegant subtleties which only come with aging.

Vintage:  Non-Vintage (2004 – 50%, 1990-2003 – 50%)

Grapes:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Carmenere

2006 Villa Creek Cellars
High Road
James Berry Vineyard

High Road is always comprised of our best James Berry Vineyard barrels. Each varietal had so much to offer this vintage that assembling the final blend proved to be a challenge. After much deliberation (and consumption) Syrah was chosen as the outspoken leader of the blend. This wine is the archetype of Paso Robles’ most distinguished vineyard. It’s rich, balanced, complex, and pure bliss!

Blend: 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre

Appearance: Deep dark plum

Nose: Bing Cherries, black licorice, bacon fat, and wet concrete.

Palate: Rich dark red fruits, kirsch and charred meats, with a long-lasting, minerally finish.

“Villa Creek is one of my favorite wineries in Paso Robles.”

2006 Erna Schein Petite Sirah
Spring Mountain District

The Spring Mountain District Petite Sirah is yet another 2006 that leaves us gushing about the layers of sweet and rich spice. A gorgeous purple/black color with edges of magenta, the wine exudes marvelous aromas of holiday spice, cinnamon, clove and cherry. This is a powerful wine with silky tannins and a solid structure to support the flavors of cola, cassis, espresso and sweet, smoky oak. 92% Petite Sirah, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. 300 cases produced.

Full ruby. Reticent but pure aromas of cassis, black pepper and licorice, with a distinctly resiny, tarry lift. Rather suave on entry, then tightly wound and uncompromisingly dry in the middle, with the peppery character carrying through onto the palate and tannic aftertaste. Behrens referred to this one as "the angel of meat." It would make a perfect accompaniment to a pepper-encrusted steak.
